LAHORE: The Lahore Sessions Court conducted a hearing in the case concerning the alleged video of writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. During the hearing on a bail application filed by a suspect arrested in connection with the case, the court sought the case record from the National Counter Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The duty judge heard the bail plea after the suspect’s arrest and later adjourned the hearing until November 19.
Earlier, on October 30, the court had issued a two-page verdict on a plea to cancel bail in the same case. The decision stated that the charges against the accused were non-bailable, and therefore, the bail application was rejected. The court clarified that while bail is a legal right, it does not apply to offences deemed non-bailable.
The verdict also noted that the allegedly objectionable video had been made using the accused’s mobile phone, and said that cybercrime in such cases cannot be treated as a minor offence.
