Countries close airspace amid Iranian strike on Israel


AMMAN: Jordan’s government spokesperson denied the kingdom announced a state of emergency and said media reports it did were baseless and “there was no cause for concern among its citizens.”

Minister of Government Communications Muhannad Mubaideen told state news agency Petra the government would take legal measures against any outlet that spread rumours or accusations that are not verified.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Airways said early on Sunday it decided to divert all incoming and outgoing flights away from “areas of tension” in view of the security situation in the region and concern for the safety of its passengers.

Egypt’s air defense is on alert, Egyptian military and security sources said in early hours of Sunday, amid fears of an Iranian drone attack aimed towards Israel.

Egypt’s military General Command has formed a team to monitor the situation and make any necessary decisions regarding the country’s airspace, the sources said.

As per sources, Egyptian general command is monitoring situation to make decision on airspace. The country’s foreign ministry in a statement early on Sunday called for the exercise of the “utmost restraint” to spare the region and its people from further factors of instability and tension.

Iran warns countries against allowing Israeli attacks via airspace or territory

Iranian Defence Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani warned that Tehran will firmly respond to any country that “opens its airspace or territory for attacks on Iran by Israel”, Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency reported on Sunday
