Commissioner Rawalpindi resigns, admits election rigging

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaqat Ali Chatta admitting to election rigging in Rawalpidi division has resigned from his post.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Commissioner Rawalpindi, acknowledged his involvement in rigging elections by manipulating losing candidates into winning positions.
He declared his inability to bear the burden of guilt any longer and has announced his decision to surrender himself to the police for his role in the electoral irregularities and deserves capital punishment.
Chatta said he saw the returning officers crying.
Liaqat Ali said that he apologises to his subordinates for forcing them to participate in the rigging process.

The Rawalpindi commissioner also claimed that candidates who were losing the election were declared winners with a lead of 50,000 votes each. He also accused Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja of being part of the rigging process.
He said after prayers this morning he had once thought of committing suicide but then decided to expose everything before the people.
Chatta said that he was urging the entire bureaucracy to not serve the politicians who were preparing to become ministers.
Meanwhile Punjab information minister Amir Mir in a statement said that he condemns the statement of commissioner Rawalpindi if someone pressurised him why he didnt come forward before.
He also said that a man who is talking of suicide his mental state of health should also be analysed.
