Cold, foggy weather to persist across Pakistan on Monday

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country on Monday, with extremely cold conditions forecast for the hilly regions. According to the weather outlook by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), partly cloudy skies will dominate upper areas, while light rain and light snowfall are likely at a few places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining regions.
Dense fog is expected to disrupt visibility in several plain areas, particularly in Punjab, upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Moderate to heavy fog is likely during the morning and night hours, while haze may develop at isolated locations in the Pothohar region and Kashmir during the early morning.
Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain cold with partly cloudy skies throughout the day.
Most districts of Punjab are likely to experience cold and dry weather. However, Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas are expected to remain extremely cold, with partly cloudy conditions. Moderate to severe fog is forecast for several cities and districts, including Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Shorkot, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.
Cold and dry weather is expected to persist across most districts of Sindh. Moderate to severe fog is likely in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam, Mohenjo Daro and surrounding areas, potentially affecting road travel during early hours.
Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will experience cold and dry weather, while the hilly regions are expected to remain severely cold with partly cloudy conditions. Light rain or snowfall is likely at isolated locations in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram and Mansehra. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy fog is expected in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and nearby areas during the morning and night.
Cold and dry weather is forecast for most parts of Balochistan, while northern districts are expected to experience severe cold conditions. Partly cloudy weather is likely at a few places in the southwestern districts, including Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara, Kech and Turbat.
Kashmir is expected to remain extremely cold, with partly cloudy to cloudy conditions and light rain or light snowfall at a few places. Similar weather conditions are forecast for Gilgit-Baltistan, where extremely cold temperatures will persist alongside occasional light rain or snowfall.
