Cold, dry weather to prevail across most parts of country on Sunday

ISLAMABAD: Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of the country on Sunday, while extremely cold and partly cloudy conditions are likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and northern Balochistan, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

Cold winds are also expected in most regions. However, during the evening and night, partly cloudy weather with strong winds and thundershowers is likely in southwestern parts of Balochistan.

Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and its surroundings, the weather is expected to remain cold and dry, with partly cloudy conditions in the afternoon. Cold winds are also likely during the day.

In Punjab, cold and dry weather will persist in most districts. Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas are expected to experience extremely cold and partly cloudy conditions, along with cold winds. Light to moderate fog may develop in a few districts during the morning hours.

In Sindh, cold and dry weather is expected in most districts, with cold winds likely to prevail.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, weather will remain cold and dry in most districts, while upper districts are likely to experience very cold and partly cloudy conditions. Cold winds are also expected.

In Balochistan, cold and dry weather will dominate most districts, while northern parts of the province are expected to remain very cold and partly cloudy. However, during the evening and night, rain and snowfall accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers is likely in Chagai, Kharan, Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, Gwadar, Quetta, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Zhob and surrounding areas.

In Kashmir, the weather is expected to remain very cold and partly cloudy throughout the day.

The Met Office has advised citizens, particularly in colder regions, to take precautionary measures amid falling temperatures and strong winds.
