Cold, dry weather to grip much of the country on Sunday

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country on Sunday, with extremely cold conditions forecast for hilly regions, according to the latest weather outlook by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Dense fog is also likely to affect several plains areas, potentially disrupting road travel during night and morning hours.

Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather will remain cold and dry, while fog is expected to develop late at night and persist into the morning.

Across Punjab, cold and dry conditions will dominate most districts. Extremely cold weather along with dense fog is forecast for Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas. Moderate to severe fog is expected in several central and southern districts, including Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Shorkot, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

In Sindh, most districts will experience cold and dry weather, while moderate to severe fog is expected in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam and Mohenjo Daro, along with surrounding areas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also likely to see cold and dry conditions, with severe cold in hilly areas. Moderate to heavy fog is expected during Saturday night in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan.

In Balochistan, cold and dry weather will persist in most districts, while extremely cold conditions are expected in northern areas. Southwestern districts, including Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara, Kech and Turbat, may experience partly cloudy weather with light rain or snowfall.

Cold and dry weather is forecast for Kashmir, with fog expected at a few locations during morning hours. Gilgit-Baltistan is also expected to remain cold and dry throughout the day.
