Cold, dry weather across country; fog disrupts plains

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country on Monday, with severe cold conditions forecast for hilly regions during the morning and night hours.

Dense to moderate fog is likely to affect visibility in several plain areas, particularly in Punjab, Upper Sindh and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that it may potentially disrupt travel during early morning and late-night hours as well.

Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather will remain cold and dry, while fog is expected to develop during the night and early morning.

Across Punjab, most districts will experience cold and dry conditions, with severe cold and partly cloudy weather forecast for Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas. Moderate to heavy fog is likely in several cities, including Sialkot, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, among others.

In Sindh, cold and dry weather is expected in most districts, while fog may form during morning and night hours in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad and Mohenjodaro.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also see cold and dry conditions across most areas, with severe cold in hilly regions during early and late hours. Fog is expected in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan.

Meanwhile, Balochistan is likely to remain cold and dry in most districts, with severe cold expected in northern areas during the morning and night.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will experience cloudy weather, with rain and snowfall expected in hilly areas, adding to the winter chill in the region.
