Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan proposes election to be held on February 11

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja has proposed February 11, 2024, as the date for the general election in Pakistan.
Raja, in a letter to President Pakistan Arif Alvi, Raja proposed the date for the general election.
“We expect that the matter be appointing a date for holding general elections shall be settled, and this court will be informed tomorrow, that is, 3rd November 2023,” the ECP wrote in the letter.

Earlier today, ECP announced the election date and informed the Supreme Court that the general election in the country will be held on February 11.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court directed the ECP to consult the president on the election date and inform the court by Friday.

A three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard the election case regarding holding elections in 90 days.
