LOS ANGELES: Sam Asghari, who recently filed for divorce from Britney Spears after 14 months of marriage, has denied any intention of challenging their prenuptial agreement.
According to court documents filed in Los Angeles, the divorce was attributed to “irreconcilable differences.” The couple had actually separated almost three weeks prior to the filing.
However, Asghari’s filing also indicated his intention to seek financial support from Spears and have her cover his legal expenses. The exact value of their assets, both separate and joint, is yet to be determined.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the model and fitness trainer urged the media to be “kind and thoughtful” during this time.
“After six years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. Sh*t happens.”
The couple’s star-studded wedding in June 2022 was attended by celebrities like Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, and Paris Hilton.
The wedding was viewed as a milestone in her newly reclaimed life after she was freed from a court conservatorship that controlled her life for more than 13 years. Their relationship had begun earlier in 2016 when they met on the set of a music video.
The marriage was the first for Sam Asghari, 29, and the third for Britney Spears, 41. Her first marriage was to Kevin Federline in 2004. They had two children, Sean and Jayden, before their divorce in 2007. Spears was also briefly married to her childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004. It was annulled after a mere 55 hours.
