Bilawal urges political parties not to shy away from elections

HYDERABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has emphasize the importance of political competition and ensuring fair elections and a continuing democratic process.
Addressing a public rally in Hyderabad after inaugurating a water project, he stated that the PPP was ready to participate in elections and encouraged other political parties to do the same.
The PPP chairman asserted the party’s commitment to contesting elections based on its manifesto and principles.
Bhutto emphasized the significance of the media in highlighting the party’s roles and responsibilities in the political landscape.
The PPP chairman further discussed the need for unity among opposition parties, urging them not to shy away from elections. He criticized those who opted to evade elections, stating that they were afraid of facing the electorate.
He stated, “In politics, it’s said that if you’re afraid, you die,” emphasizing the party’s resilience and determination in the face of challenges.
Regarding the ongoing character assassination and propaganda campaigns against PPP, Bhutto stressed the importance of countering false narratives and propaganda with facts and evidence.
He emphasised the enduring support of Hyderabad’s residents as he visited the city after a considerable hiatus.

Addressing the crowd, Bhutto recalled the historical significance of Hyderabad in the political journey of his family.
He highlighted how the people of Hyderabad stood firmly behind his grandfather, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, during challenging times, ultimately changing the fate of the nation.
He also recounted pivotal moments in the party’s history, including the time when the late Benazir Bhutto faced adversity and the people of Hyderabad rallied to her side.
Furthermore, he said that the PPP chairman challenged prevailing stereotypes about women in politics, stating that people used to believe that a woman could not become a prime minister in Pakistan. He emphasised that the support of the people of Hyderabad led to the historic election of Benazir Bhutto as prime minister not once but twice.
Bhutto inaugurated a significant water supply project for Hyderabad, addressing a pressing issue faced by the city’s residents.
He stressed that access to clean water is a fundamental right for all citizens and expressed concern about water scarcity despite abundant water resources in the region.
He highlighted the historical efforts by leaders such as Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and Benazir Bhutto in proposing water projects.
Bilawal Bhutto stated that his visit to Hyderabad was not to seek anything but to give back to the city. He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to providing essential services to the people, including clean drinking water. Bhutto proudly declared that his party had successfully delivered clean water to every village and home in the region, setting them apart through their demonstrated performance.
Speaking about his vision for the future, Bilawal Bhutto expressed his desire to extend the initiatives he started in Hyderabad, where he provided clean drinking water, to other cities such as Multan and Faisalabad. He also expressed his intention to address water scarcity issues in areas like FATA and Peshawar.
He underlined that by joining hands with the PPP, they would collectively work towards resolving pressing issues in the country.

Refuting the notion of PPP being politically inactive, Bhutto proclaimed, “The Pakistan People’s Party is politically alive.”
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the party’s workers and leaders, mentioning that despite the martyrdom of their leaders, they did not back down from their political responsibilities.
Recalling the historical context of Hyderabad’s politics, Bhutto mentioned the past presence of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the city’s political arena. He claimed that he never sought political alliances with the MQM and encouraged them to participate in local elections.
Bhutto reiterated his commitment to providing essential services to the people, particularly in the healthcare sector. He cited examples of free healthcare initiatives and hospitals established by the PPP to benefit the masses.
Addressing issues of land ownership and tenant rights, Bhutto pledged to provide land rights to 12 lakh (1.2 million) families, emphasizing the party’s commitment to social justice.
He highlighted the importance of empowering the poor and providing economic opportunities for them. He underscored the party’s commitment to improving the economic conditions of the underprivileged and promoting a fairer society.
