Beckham family feud reaches boiling point as Brooklyn Beckham reportedly turns to lawyers

Relations within the Beckham family reportedly deteriorated so badly last summer that Brooklyn Beckham asked his parents, David and Victoria, to communicate with him only through their lawyers.

According to reports, there was an exchange of legal letters between Brooklyn’s representatives and lawyers acting for his parents. There was no legal action involved and no formal proceedings were initiated. Instead, the move was described as a request, rather than a threat or demand.

Brooklyn is said to have asked that his parents stop contacting him directly and refrain from making public statements or social media posts about him.

Claims of ‘nasty’ briefings about Nicola Peltz

Sources claim the decision followed what Brooklyn believed were a series of “nasty” briefings about his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.

These reportedly included suggestions that he was being “controlled” by her or was a “hostage” in the relationship. Friends and publicists on both sides have declined to comment publicly, with those close to the family still hoping the situation will eventually calm down.

One source said David Beckham was told that communication would need to go through Brooklyn’s legal team, adding that it was the only way they were able to stay in touch.

Why Brooklyn reportedly blocked his family

The reported legal boundary is also believed to explain why Brooklyn blocked his parents, as well as brothers Romeo and Cruz, on social media shortly before Christmas.

Sources said the family had continued viewing and liking his posts, which Brooklyn allegedly felt went against his request to be left alone.

Those close to the couple claim that social media activity from his parents had become a source of anxiety, with Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly worrying about what might be posted about them overnight.

A feud years in the making

Brooklyn, 26, married actress Nicola Peltz, 30, in April 2022. Reports of tension between the two families surfaced soon after the wedding.

Sources have previously claimed Nicola was upset when Victoria Beckham allegedly offered to design her wedding dress but later failed to follow through. There were also reports of discomfort when singer Marc Anthony praised Victoria on the wedding day, calling her the most beautiful woman in the room.

Despite attempts to repair relations, Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly did not attend David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations last summer. In November, Brooklyn also did not publicly congratulate his father on receiving a knighthood.

Where things stand now

Sources close to Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly believe a “proper apology” is needed before any reconciliation can happen.

Meanwhile, those close to David and Victoria say they want both sides to move forward and would do anything to reconnect with their son.

For now, the family remains estranged.
