Be on extra alert: Dutch scientist predicts another earthquake in Afghanistan

Afghanistan earthquake

WEB DESK: Frank Hoogerbeets, a Dutch scientist and seismologist affiliated with The Solar System Geometry Survey (SSGS) known for his past accurate predictions, has suggested the possibility of another significant earthquake occurring in Afghanistan. This concern arises following a series of three earthquakes that struck the country within a span of just thirty minutes.

“Aftershocks will probably continue in the coming days. While it looks like the previous Mw 6.5 is the main shock, another strong tremor is possible. Be on extra alert, just in case,” he wrote on ‘X’ previously known as Twitter.

The earthquake has claimed the lives of at least 14 people and left 78 others injured. There are concerns that the death toll may escalate further due to reports of landslides and individuals trapped beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings.

Afghanistan is frequently hit by earthquakes, especially in the Hindu Kush mountain range, which lies near the junction of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.

On Monday, Frank Hoogerbeets’ earthquake prediction for Pakistan spread through Pakistani Twitter and news channels, causing panic and unnecessary alarm.

Hoogerbeets, while quoting a tweet from the Solar System Geometry Survey (SSGEOS) wrote, “Planetary geometry is difficult to interpret with four conjunctions spread out over the next 10 days. As far as I can tell, 1-3 October will be more critical.”

The prediction said that a significant increase in electrical activity occurred along the fault lines in Balochistan’s Chaman, raising concerns about the possibility of a strong earthquake in Pakistan.
