McGinn double seals Villa VS Forest victory as hosts climb to second

Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest: Structure tested at Villa Park

Aston Villa VS Nottingham Forest ended with smiles for the home fans as John McGinn scored twice and Ollie Watkins continued his fine form in a 3-1 Premier League win on Saturday night.

Villa VS Forest was decided by a strong second-half display at Villa Park, where the hosts moved provisionally up to second place in the table. Watkins opened the scoring just before half-time after Morgan Rogers picked him out on the edge of the box, and the striker calmly fired in his fourth goal in three matches.

Early in the second half of Villa VS Forest, the home side doubled their lead. Matty Cash sent in a cross and McGinn reacted quickly, flicking the ball into the net with his left foot to put Villa firmly in control.

Forest pulled a goal back through Morgan Gibbs-White, giving the visitors brief hope in the Villa VS Forest contest. However, McGinn ended any chance of a comeback in the 73rd minute by spotting goalkeeper John Victor off his line and lifting the ball over him to make it 3-1.

The win in Villa VS Forest marked Villa’s 11th straight home victory in all competitions. They now sit one point above third-placed Manchester City, although City have a game in hand, and Villa travel to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

For Forest, the Villa VS Forest defeat leaves them 17th in the table, four points above the relegation zone, after suffering their fourth consecutive league loss.
