PESHAWAR: Speculations are rife within political circles about Aleema Khan, the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, potentially taking over the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as the party faces mounting challenges and a leadership vacuum.
However, K-P’s Advisor for Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif has denied any such prospect.
Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif said that the rumors about Aleema Khan and Bushra Bibi taking over the party might be a wish of the “mandate-stealing government”, but there is no truth to it.
“The party belongs to Imran Khan, and he is personally overseeing all matters. Under the leadership of Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is united, organised, and cohesive.”
In a response issued from his office, he stated that the “incompetent government” is propagating lies about Bushra Bibi and Aleema Khan.
Aleema Khan makes direct contact with KP workers amid rift in PTI
Rumors of Aleema Khan stepping into a more prominent role within PTI have been circulating ever since she has made direct contact with “enraged and disgruntled” party workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to launch a campaign for the release of the PTI founder.
According to the sources, Aleema Khan has discreetly initiated a campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for her brother’s release, holding meetings with party workers in Peshawar and Mardan.
Accompanied by Khadija Shah, she did not inform the provincial government or the top party leadership about her visit, nor did she meet with party leaders.
Experts suggest that Aleema Khan is maneuvering to take full control of PTI, sidelining Bushra Bibi to manage party affairs independently.
