Afghanistan clinch Emerging Asia Cup

AL AMERAT: Afghanistan’s A team captured the Emerging Asia Cup title after defeating Sri Lanka A in a commanding display in the final.

Sri Lanka, batting first, set a modest target of 134 runs, which Afghanistan chased down with ease, securing a seven-wicket victory to lift the trophy.

Sri Lanka A struggled early in the Emerging Asia Cup final, losing half their lineup at just 65 runs. Sahan anchored the innings with an unbeaten 64, helping his team reach a total of 133. In response, Afghanistan A also had a rocky start, with Zubaid Akbari bowled out on the first ball. However, a stellar, unbeaten 55 by Sediqullah Atal guided Afghanistan to their target with 11 balls and seven wickets to spare.

This victory marks Afghanistan A’s first Emerging Asia Cup title, sparking celebrations across Kabul and the nation. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar was named Player of the Match, while Sediqullah Atal, who scored 368 runs throughout the tournament, earned the player of the tournament honuor.
