Actor Satish Shah dies at 74 in Mumbai

ISLAMABAD: India’s popular actor Satish Shah, best known for his comic roles in Bollywood films, passed away on Saturday, Indian media reported.

The 74-year-old was reportedly suffering from kidney-related issues, according to a post shared on Instagram.

Satish Shah featured in many of India’s most celebrated films, including Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa and Om Shanti Om. The veteran actor was particularly loved for his performances in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi.

Bollywood has lost several notable stars over the past two years.

Popular Indian singer and actor Rishabh Tandon, also known by his stage name “Faqeer”, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest in New Delhi. He was 35. According to family sources quoted by Indian media, Rishabh was in New Delhi due to his father’s ill health when he suffered a fatal heart attack late last night.

Actor Vikas Sethi, known for his role in the 2003 adult drama film Oops, passed away in 2024 at the age of 48. He appeared in numerous hit TV series and films.

Rituraj Singh, a prominent television actor, also died the same year. He was known for his performances in Hindi serials such as Banegi Apni Baat (1993), Jyoti and Hitler Didi.

Veteran actor and filmmaker Harikrishan Giri Goswami, popularly known as Manoj Kumar, passed away in April this year. His career spanned over four decades, during which he worked in 55 Indian films as an actor, screenwriter, lyricist, editor and director, leaving a lasting mark on Hindi cinema.

In June, Bollywood also mourned the loss of Shefali Jariwala, famed for her appearance in the 2002 remix music video Kaanta Laga.

Earlier this month, Indian professional bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman also passed away.
