Pakistan’s textile exports surge 10.44 per cent in first four months of FY25

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s textile exports have seen a solid boost, rising by 10.44 per cent in the first four months of the ongoing fiscal year.
The total reached $6.146 billion, up from $5.565 billion during the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Overall exports from July to October totalled $10.889 billion after increasing 13.55 per cent from $9.590 billion in the exact period last year.
October saw exports hit $2.984 billion which is up by 5.22 per cent from September and 10.97 per cent higher than last year’s October.
Textile exports also had a strong month in October, rising by 13.11 per cent to $1.625 billion compared to $1.437 billion last year. This was a small 1.30 per cent increase from September’s $1.604 billion.
On the flip side, cotton yarn exports have struggled, dropping by 45.59 per cent from July to October.
However, October saw a bit of a recovery, with cotton yarn exports rising by 13.83 per cent to $59.180 million compared to September’s $51.991 million. Year-on-year, though, they were down 35.79 per cent.
Key export items in October included knitwear, readymade garments, rice, bed wear, and cotton cloth.
Knitwear was the leader, with exports worth Rs136,359 million, followed by readymade garments at Rs100,547 million, and rice at Rs81,544 million.
