Share market shows stability after steep hike through the week

KARACHI: Final trading day of the week shows Pakistan Stock Exchange posting slow and moderate gains early in the day, after a week of impressive improvement.
On Monday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) sustained its upward trajectory, reaching a historic milestone as the benchmark KSE-100 Index surpassed the 56,500 level for the first time.
Tuesday’s session posted moderate gains, closing at 56,665.93 points after fluctuating through the day.
Gas price hike expected in January
On Wednesday, the index continued with fluctuations, and by noon had managed only 18.42 points gain to hover around 56,684.35 points.
Thursday posted quick gains of 366 points early on Thursday morning, and then showed impressive growth closing the day above 57,000 points mark at 57,397.02 points.
On Friday, the index was seen moderately fluctuating but it managed to stay above the opening point. Touching the highest of 57,750.92 points on Friday morning, by 11:00 a.m. the index was seen hovering around 57,445.70 points, nearly 50 points above opening.
The trading volume, however, remained positive with over 115 million shares trading hands before noon.
