Maersk West and Central Asia Limited, a global shipping and logistics company, has partnered with Pakistan’s Secure Logistics Group Limited (SLGL) to provide onshore logistics services. The partnership was announced by SLGL in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
The partnership will enable SLGL to expand its logistics services portfolio, and the two companies are also discussing a similar arrangement for international road transport under SLGL’s TIR License. The domestic services are expected to commence by the end of September 2024, while regional services are expected to start in October/early November 2024.
Last month, SLGL obtained the Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) licence, which allows it to provide logistics services across designated countries, including Afghanistan, Central Asia, China, Iran, and others. Meanwhile, Maersk has announced plans to invest $2 billion in Pakistan’s port and transport infrastructure over the next two years, which is expected to contribute to the development of infrastructure and boost Pakistan’s economy.
