Rupee registers marginal fall against US dollar


Pakistan seeks loan from middle eastern banks

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee registered a minor loss against the US dollar as it depreciated 0.14 percent during trading in the inter-bank market on Tuesday.

At midday, the rupee was hovering at 279.20, a decrease of Re0.40 in the inter-bank market.

On Monday, the rupee also depreciated against the US dollar, settling at 278.80.

Share market declines unexpectedly

Over the past week, the interbank rate for the dollar had seen a significant overall increase of more than Rs1.19 and closed at Rs278.80 at the end of the week.

The value of the American dollar remained relatively stable in comparison to the Pakistani currency, after a continuous decline of five weeks.
