Qatar to broaden investments in Pakistan’s power and housing sectors

WEB DESK: The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has expressed its keen interest in expanding its involvement in Pakistan’s power generation and housing sectors, according to a press statement released today.

A delegation from QFFD, led by Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari, the Chief Executive Officer of QFFD, is currently on a two-day visit to Pakistan from March 23 to 24, 2024.

During their visit, the delegation, accompanied by the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Pakistan, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, met with Ahad Khan Cheema, the Minister for Economic Affairs, at the Prime Minister’s House.

Minister Cheema warmly welcomed the CEO of QFFD and expressed appreciation for the pivotal role played by the State of Qatar and QFFD in Pakistan’s development, emphasizing the enduring bilateral relationship between the two nations.

He also conveyed gratitude to Qatar for its significant contribution of $25 million towards international support during the 2022 floods.

Minister Cheema underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in advancing major projects within the water sector.

Importantly, both parties have agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation through technical-level discussions.

The Minister commended QFFD’s steadfast support to Pakistan during challenging times and pledged to further fortify relations in the future.

Al-Kuwari reaffirmed QFFD’s dedication to assisting Pakistan in its efforts to recover and thrive, particularly through the development of climate-resilient infrastructure.
