PSX continues upward trend as KSE-100 surges over 1,000 points

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) concluded the last trading day of the week on a volatile note, experiencing significant fluctuations within the first hour of trading.

At the start of trading, the benchmark KSE-100 index opened in positive territory at 114,060.37 points, marking a gain of 223.63 points at 9:15 AM, with a trading volume of 154,477 shares.

Shortly after, by 9:18 AM, the index climbed further to 114,174.68 points, reflecting a rise of 337.94 points. However, the momentum could not be sustained as the KSE-100 index entered the negative zone by 9:25 AM, dropping by 264.79 points to reach 113,571.95.

Several companies within the KSE-100 index experienced declines during this period. MEHT recorded a 10 per cent loss, falling to Rs611.57. PSEL was down by 4.70 per cent to Rs852, while HINOON dropped 4.49 per cent to Rs867.

UNITY also dipped by 1.87 per cent, and PSX itself fell by 1.62 per cent to Rs28.52.

On the other hand, there were some notable gains. PGLC rose by 8.83 per cent to Rs22.80, JDWS increased by 4.61 per cent to Rs968, SEARL gained 4.19 per cent to reach Rs104.50, KOHC was up 2.01 per cent to Rs377.90, and THALL climbed by 1.74 per cent to Rs428.94.

Over the past year, the KSE-100 index has seen a significant rise of 78.94 per cent. The 52-week range for the PSX has been between 59,191.86 and 118,735.10 points. Currently, the year-to-date (YTD) change shows the PSX is down by 1.20 per cent.

Among the top active stocks, WTL saw a gain of 1.61 per cent, DFML was up by 2.32 per cent, JSCL surged 9.41 per cent, HASCOL climbed 4.22 per cent, and SEARL advanced by 4.19 per cent.

The PSX continued its upward momentum, rising by 1,020 points to reach 114,856.78 points at approximately 12:23 PM, with a trading volume of 94,340,778 shares.
