KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has concluded its hearing on K-Electric’s request for a provisional fuel charge adjustment (FCA) for August 2024, set at Rs0.51 per unit.

Following the hearing, NEPRA will issue a decision specifying the FCA amount to be included in customer bills and the duration for its application.

Previously, for July 2024, K-Electric had requested an increase of Rs3.09 per unit. NEPRA conducted the hearing for this request on August 29, but a final decision regarding the exact amount and the billing month is still pending.

Compared to July’s request, the FCA sought by K-Electric for August represents a net reduction of Rs2.58 per unit.

Fuel charge adjustments account for variations in global fuel prices used in electricity generation and changes in the energy mix. These adjustments are passed on to customers after NEPRA’s review and approval.
