Pakistan sees 38.66 per cent rise in IT and telecom exports

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s exports of telecommunications, computer, and information services rose by 38.66 per cent in October, reaching $330 million, compared to $238 million in the same month last year.
IT exports remain the largest part of the country’s services exports, making up 47.9 per cent in September.
On a monthly basis, IT exports grew by 13.01 per cent, increasing from $292 million in September to $330 million in October.
At the same time, imports in this sector dropped by 16.22 per cent compared to October last year and by 8.82 per cent compared to September.
In the first four months of the current fiscal year, cumulative IT exports reached $1.21 billion, showing a strong 34.9 per cent growth over the same period last year.
However, IT imports for October amounted to $143 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 9.16 per cent, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
