ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have decided to refrain from harassing and creating issues for regular taxpayers and focusing instead on issuing notices solely to tax evaders or defaulters.

FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial stated that the FBR agrees with FPCCI’s legitimate demands, including the proposal to abolish the requirement of an affidavit for filing sales tax returns.

He urged the FPCCI to support their efforts to ensure transparent tax return filings by traders and industrialists.

According to an official statement, a delegation led by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh held a detailed meeting with the FBR chairman.

The delegation stressed the need for a reduction in tax rates to ease the burden on businesses, highlighting that the last two to three years have been particularly challenging for the economy.
